Abstract
Hermeneutics is part of the Science of philosophy which are closely related to the science of linguistics especially English. For this reason, the focus of this study is how the application of Hermeneutics in English education and linguistics which are related to oral and written interpretations. The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between Hermeneutics and English education and Linguistics. This research uses qualitative research methods. The results of the research are expected to contribute to the world of education, especially learning related to English education and linguistics. The results of this study found that Hermeneutics which is part of Philosophy is present to complement the study of linguistic science related to the interpretation of a word meaning. All forms of interpretation include an understanding. To make an interpretation, the fundamental thing that must be possessed is that we must understand the word itself before it is used. In essence, if we already understand the word, we have actually carried out the interpretation process. In Hermeneutic Sciences, the process of understanding and interpretation constitutes a Hermeneutic circle.
