Abstract
process often induces anxiety that can hinder students. This correlational study aims to examine the relationship between speaking anxiety and speaking skill among 11th-grade students at SMA Negeri 1 Tembilahan Hulu. The research sample consisted of 36 students selected using simple random sampling technique, evaluated using a speaking anxiety questionnaire and a speaking performance test. The descriptive analysis revealed that 41.6% of the students experienced high level of anxiety with mean score 102,22, while 30.56% demonstrated speaking skill in the excellent category with mean score 63,44. Furthermore, the correlation analysis yielded an robserved value of -0.155 and an rtable value of 0.329. Since robserved < rtable , the null hypothesis (H0) is accepted and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is rejected. Consequently, it can be concluded that there is no significant correlation between speaking anxiety and speaking skill among 11th-grade students at SMA Negeri 1 Tembilahan Hulu.
