Abstract
Learning style is an important factor in the process of language acquisition, especially in speaking skills that require understanding and confidence. This study examines the dominant learning styles of grade XI students of SMAN 1 Tembilahan Hulu in learning to speak English. Using a quantitative descriptive approach and a questionnaire as the research instrument, data were obtained from 100 respondents. The results of the analysis showed that the auditory learning style is the most dominant, with the highest average score (296), compared to visual and kinesthetic learning styles. This indicates that students find it easier to develop their speaking skills through listening activities and imitating pronunciation. These findings imply that teaching strategies should be adapted to emphasize auditory-based learning activities, such as listening to native speakers and practicing pronunciation through imitation. Furthermore, incorporating kinesthetic elements like role-playing can complement auditory approaches and support students with diverse learning preferences. Therefore, these results serve as a basis for teachers and educational institutions to align teaching methods with students' dominant learning styles to improve the effectiveness of English speaking instruction.
